How It Works

Our design process

You drink

You drink

That’s the easy bit! You drink your favourite drinks as you would normally and we take the bottles.

We Score

We Score

We wash the labels off and then make a score line around the bottle. Not too deep otherwise the bottle will break.

We split

We split

We use thermal shock (hot water followed by freezing water) to break the glass. We then sand it ready for quality control.

It’s complete

It’s complete

Ta-dah! Your very own glass made from a bottle.

About BooDLE & BEAR

We are a husband and wife team from a quiet Suffolk country village

We are a husband and wife team from a quiet Suffolk country village. Whilst on honeymoon, many years ago, we spotted a set of tumblers that were recycled from old wine bottles. Appealing to our ‘save the planet’ nature, we bought them. As the years drew on and the odd drop and washing up catastrophe hampered their lives, the tumblers began to dwindle. This led to a thought.

“Why don’t we make them ourselves?”

So here we are. Under the heading of Boodle and Bear, we now make and create not just glasses from wine and beer bottles but also lanterns, clocks, egg-cups and a whole plethora of other worldly objects that we hope will make you say:

“That’s so cool!”

Here endeth the tale of who we are and what we do. We will always accept ideas and special commission pieces that will be special to you and you alone. Don’t be afraid to ask. We are super duper friendly.
